SuperMemo

In addition to cleaning up the code for my web interface, I'm working on integrating SuperMemo-inspired features into the system. This has always been the general plan: to have a feature I had previously called "Core Knowledge," which would keep my biological-brain tuned up with a baseline set of knowledge.

Until a few weeks ago, I really didn't have any good ideas of how to implement Core Knowledge. Then I discovered SuperMemo and spaced repetition. Exactly what I was looking for and with solid science and track record behind it. I'm also considering whether I am going to incorporate incremental reading tools.

In other news, I recieved the digital voice recorder and some external mics and have started trying to figure out how to use them optimally. I have also installed my new hard drive into my exocortex.

A little more progress...

I ordered my digital voice recorder and a 320gb hard drive for my exocortex. This should allow me to get even closer to implementation.

Another big item on the upcoming purchases list is a Nokia N810 web tablet. This device will serve as a stepping stone to my neural interface. As I've reviewed Steve Mann's (and others') work, it has become painfully clear that the current state of the art in wearables is still too primative and pricey to fully fill the role I intend for my "cyborg suit" neural interface. The N810 will be slowly replaced by the cyborg suit as it becomes sufficently capable.

I'm waiting on this purchase mostly for the roll-out of the N810 WiMAX edition. Until this is publically available, I won't be able to determine if the WiMAX edition or standard N810 is a better fit for my needs. The WiMAX edition should be available by June or July and then I will be able to make this purchase with confidence.
