Configuration Profiles
  • Server -- By default, will accept any services as needed.
  • Workstation -- By default will only accept low load services.
  • Portable -- By default will not accept any services.
  • Cluster Head/Control Node -- By default will not accept any additional services.
  • Cluster Processing Node -- By default will not accept any additional services.
  • Additional Administrator Defined Configuration Profiles can be create.
Install Options
  • CD/DVD
    • primary server -- gets everything
    • manual - configure manually
    • build image -- create install cd for this hardware type -- cd/dvd or HD image
  • Build from image
    • cd/dvd boots, install is done over net from admin console
    • same as above, usually faster

Primary Server Install

  1. Boot computer from CD/DVD
  2. Select "create new domain." The new domain wizard launches.
  3. Complete Network information.
  4. Create At least one administration account.
  5. Installation Runs. The entire distribution of Unobtainium will be installed on the primary server. This includes all services, all apps, and all utilities. These should be left on this server as it serves as the source for all software needed to promote servers to handle previously unassigned tasks.
  6. Reboot
  7. On reboot: add users, configuration profiles, and other settings using "Chapter 3 - Domain Setup and Administration."

Installing From CD/DVD

  1. Boot computer from CD/DVD
  2. Select Domain, enter Admin UserID/Password. If no domains exist, select "create new domain" and follow directions for Primary Server Install.
  3. Select Configuration Profile
  4. Name computer and add into domain tree.
  5. Install runs.
  6. Reboot.
  7. Adjust OS settings as necessary.
